Unbelief, Racism, and the 2012 Presidential Election

“So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Government can work to protect our stuff. However, what we possess, our rights, our homes, our cars, our jobs, and the like, are temporal. “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26) Irrational fear reveals deeper issues such as unbelief, as though God is not sovereign, faithful, or able to deliver on His exceeding great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4). Shame on us if we nullify faith in God - no matter who, what, where, or when government succeeds or fails. We seem to be more concerned about eating whole foods in the natural than we are about believing in the whole truth, the whole way, and the whole life (John 16:6). Let faith reveal our hearts, not hatred and bigotry. All of my hope is in things eternal. Lord, let not my faith fail me in this hour. In Jesus’ mighty name I pray, realizing that I need Thee every hour. Amen.
